Last week Achieve Speech Associates held its official Encino speech clinic open house welcoming our community to visit our clinic, meet staff, schmooze with others, and to check out the awesome Sky Gym. Although we’ve been practicing in Encino for the last three years, this year we’ve moved to a larger office. Our move was an exciting process because we wanted to stay local to the community while making it convenient for our patients to continue therapy at our clinic. We also wanted to find space that can cater to children programs and activities.

As developmental experts, we understand that interactive sensory input can improve results with therapy. So once we found our current location, we created the Sky Gym.  During the open house, we showcased the Sky Gym for parents to see and for children to play.  During therapy, sensory input can refocus a child’s attention so that they can be more attentive to learning with the therapist. We allow patients to utilize the Sky Gym either at the beginning, during, or towards the conclusion of the session. We’re very transparent and we work with parents to determine how to make the session as effective as possible.

Even though the open house was to introduce the clinic, we wanted the event to engaging, interactive, and informative. Children got their face painted and learned how to play musical instruments in a group environment. The parents learned more about Achieve Speech Associates and our goals in child development. We also had great sponsors in attendance – Jet Blue and Fishman Education Services who both exhibited at the open house.

Overall it was a great turnout and it showed how supportive the community is in helping us improve lives of people with communication disabilities. We look forward to becoming more involved with our community and are excited to host more events in the future.
